Two day intermediate Workshop - 17th and 18th August 2019


The intermediate workshop will be based in our Hackney Wick, London studio and will last from 10am - 5pm on Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th of August.

Participants will have an opportunity to hand Screen Print an edition of 5 two colour prints of their own artwork at A4 size as well has having a wide range of knowledge to build a foundation to print at home.

The schedule of the two days will be as follows:


Introduction to Screen Printing and Studio Practices.

We will run through a basic history of screen printing everyone will be shown the artwork we produce in the studio as well as all the equipment used and techniques used to achieve the finishes of certain prints.


We will look at how to separate the digital artwork to make it print ready, including createing halftones, trap and techniques used to improve print quality. We will then create all the negatives ready for exposing.


We will prep and coat our own screen and show the whole pre-press process, giving tips and advice to be able to achieve great exposures at home. We will then expose the screen and make screens print ready.


We will mix our own ink colours, set up on the print bed and then print an edition of 5 of each of the first colour, highlighting printing methods and variations within the process for the diffrent techniques Screen Printing can be used in.

Clean Up & Strip

We will then clean out and strip the screens in preparation for day two and the second colour.



On day two we will recoat and prepare the screens for the second colour.


We will discuss various methods of registration and use an appropriate method for the artwork. We will also focus on methods of ink mixing that allow for improvements in the print.


Prints will then be editioned, signed and embossed with information given on various other methods of print finishing that can be adopted.


- Each design will be a two colour print onto white 310gsm Southbank Smooth paper stock at A4 size (there will be a 5mm border so artwork will be 200mm x 287mm). Other Paper can be used but must be supplied by the attendee

- Artwork must be supplied 5 working days before the beginning of the course to ensure it is print ready and to ensure any specially required inks are instock.

- Screen Printing is a bit of a stop start process, having to wait for elements to dry/cure etc. but there will be lots to keep everyone entertained and the day is geared to have minimal wait times.

- Lunch is not included but there are some great spots around the studio to eat. There will be tea and coffee provided.

- Intermediate Classes are limited to 3 participants per date.

- Full artworking details will be supplied by email on completion of booking.
